POSITION: Music Accompanist
STATUS: Part time: 20 hours per week
OVERVIEW AND GENERAL PURPOSE: Harmony United Methodist Church (HUMC) serves our community, striving to live our mission statement: People who love God serving people whom God loves!
The Music Accompanist qualified candidates must have mastery in producing religious music on a piano or organ.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP AND SUPERVISION: The Music Accompanist reports to the Lead Pastor for regular supervision and will receive direction from the Lead Pastor on coordinating music with the worship service.
The Lead Pastor provides an annual evaluation of the Music Accompanist performance. The Church Council and SPRC Committee are responsible for employment and compensation issues for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides organ and or piano music for the weekly Sunday service. Plays for special services which may include but not be limited to Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.
Accompanies vocal or instrumental soloists.
Accompanies vocal choirs and instrumental groups during Sunday worship.
Prepares a prelude, offertory, postlude, hymns and an anthem on a weekly basis.
Plays for weekly choir rehearsals and Sunday morning warm-ups at 9:45 AM.
Coordinates with the Lead Pastor on the selection of music for the weekly worship service.
Has the right of first refusal to play at weddings or funerals held at the church, and will receive an honorarium over and above their regular salary for such services.
EXPECTATIONS: Experience serving in a traditional and/or blended style religious worship environment is preferred.
SALARY: $15,000-$20,000
