I live in Leesburg with my husband Matt and our two sons. Ian is a Junior majoring in Marketing at James Madison University and Owen is a sophomore at Tuscarora High School. When I am not at preschool, I enjoy being in my kitchen experimenting with new recipes or spending time with friends and family exploring our wonderful town. I also enjoy travelling especially going on cruises!
I am blessed to be a part of Harmony United Methodist Church as the Preschool Director and so excited for this school year. It has been wonderful getting to know the families and children that we serve and a pleasure to work with a fabulous team of talented ladies. Harmony is a wonderful environment for the children to grow and prosper in God’s love and I look forward to an amazing year!

I am a Northern Virginia native. My family and I moved to beautiful Hillsboro (from Fairfax), five years ago. Between my husband and I, we have four adult children – Haley, Jack, Aiden, and Sam. We, also, have a 13-year-old son, Logan, who attends Harmony Middle School, as well as two adorable, but trouble-maker dogs, Charlie and Max.
I was a stay-at-home mom until my kids were in high school, volunteering at their schools and various extracurricular activities. During that time, I also dabbled in freelance writing and photography, as well as taught Gymboree Play & Music classes. When my kids were all in their teens, I began teaching preschool at St. Stephen’s UMC Preschool, where three of my children had once attended, and I realized that this is what I truly love to do.
After moving out to Hillsboro, I substitute teaching at Loudoun Country Day School. I, also, pursued and completed my online degree in Early Childhood Care and Education. Now at Harmony Preschool, I am so grateful and appreciative to be part of such a talented group of teachers and staff, as well as amazing parents and students! My students make me laugh and smile every day, and my goal, in addition to teaching them new skills and continuing to build up their confidence, is to do the same for them. Thank you for sharing your children with us!

I live in Purcellville with my husband and our two children, Adeline and Cameron. Cameron is in 3rd grade and Adeline attends Harmony Preschool. We love being active spending our time hiking and traveling. I enjoy crafting and reading when I have free time.
I’m in my 10th year teaching. I taught for the public schools before my son was born and started teaching preschool last year. I have taught all through Virginia and California. I knew from a young age I wanted to be a teacher. I find joy watching the children learn and grow. Harmony is a wonderful place to be, and I thoroughly enjoy being a part of the team here at the school!
Karen Cokain (Assistant Teacher 3’s)
I live in Leesburg with my husband, our three children and our dog. My children are young adults now with the youngest in his freshman year of college.
I started out helping my children’s teachers during their elementary years. After three years of volunteer work with those teachers, I was hired by a preschool in Leesburg. I worked there as an assistant in one of the four-year-old classes for eight years. I was also the arts and crafts teacher for five of those years for both the three-year-old and four-year-old classes. Most recently, I assisted in a self-contained K-2 autism class for LCPS. I enjoy watching the children develop and grow throughout the year; discovering Gods world through their eyes is wonderful.
